Pantry was founded in Venice Beach, CA by a team who believed that cannabis can provide health & wellness benefits through great tasting products made with clean ingredients. Pantry taps best-in-class chefs, nutritionists, functional medicine and cannabis experts to create superfood edibles that help you stress less and sleep better.
Pantry Food Co. Boldly Blends Functional Mushrooms, Adaptogens and Cannabis
“I created Pantry to make better-for-you cannabis-infused foods that help consumers address a wide range of issues western medicine has done a poor job of solving,” said Scott Jennings, co-founder and CEO of Pantry Food Co.
Creating Healthy Cannabis Gummies
Pantry’s Head Chef Mike “Mags” Magliano’s leads Pantry’s kitchen team by sourcing the highest quality ingredients to maximize both great taste as well as health benefits. Chef Mag’s background is formidable and includes working alongside some of the culinary world’s best Michelin starred chefs including such greats as Thomas Keller at the French Laundry, Tom Colicchio, and Michael Tusk. He additionally trained in a plant-based cooking school giving him the background and versatility to create products that are plant-based, nutritious, and allergy-friendly.
Chef Mag’s first mission was to take cannabis’ most common edible, the gummy, and create a vegan, gluten-free version made with only real food ingredients. He started with real fruit and replaced commonly found gummy-ingredients like gelatin and waxes with natural substitutes like pectin (fruit fibers) and agar agar (seaweed fibers). The result was Pantry’s juicy Fruit Jellies that are now available in three flavors: passionfruit-guava, strawberry-lime and white peach.
The exploration did not stop there, though. Chef Mags went on to create a Cacao Keto Bite (raw, vegan chocolate) that he paired with a 1:1 ratio of CBD:THC. Consumers often found these microdose bites to be restorative and relaxing, which furthered the team’s fervor to create effect-targeted blends in their edibles.
Why blend cannabis with adaptogens and functional mushrooms?
We often talk about cannabis strains having specific effects such as being uplifting, or sedative. Much of these terpene and entourage-effect based experiences seem to be inconsistent or entirely lost when cannabis is consumed through edibles. When developing their Superfood Bites line of products, Pantry looked for alternative functional foods and ingredients that they could incorporate to provide consistent, desired effects.
For thousands of years, humans have used adaptogenic roots, herbs and mushrooms to heal and nourish the body. Pantry has similarly embraced naturally functional ingredients including turmeric, ashwagandha, lion’s mane mushroom, valerian root and melatonin to create their new Superfood Bites line.
Pantry’s Good Day Bite contains ingredients meant to provide a boost to the brain and immune system, while their Nite Bites contain a blend of ingredients to help you get the sleep you deserve.
This is only the beginning for the Pantry team as they constantly innovate and release new edible products.
Not sure where to start?
With cannabis consumption, like alcohol consumption, the optimal amount to consume depends on several factors including tolerance, diet, metabolism, sex, weight and one’s motivation for use. Pantry’s Edibles Dosage Calculator can help you identify how much and what kind is right for you and your lifestyle. Please use mindfully. Must be 21+ to consume.
