This is an important safety recall affecting Henry’s Original Pre-Roll – White Rhino 2g (4ct), batch number F8073. The California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) has confirmed the presence of Aspergillus niger in this batch, which poses a potential health risk.
At the time we purchased and stocked this product, the lab results showed no presence of mold, and it met all state regulatory standards. However, recent testing has revealed the presence of Aspergillus niger, leading to this recall.
This is the first time Sespe Creek has ever had to recall an item, and we are committed to handling this situation with the utmost care and transparency.
While the safety of our customers is always our top priority, it is important to note that Aspergillus testing has been controversial. For instance, the Oregon Court of Appeals recently halted the state’s Aspergillus testing rules following a legal challenge by the cannabis industry. State regulators argue that inhaling Aspergillus can be dangerous for individuals who are immunocompromised. However, the Oregon Health Authority has acknowledged that there is no proof that cannabis containing Aspergillus has sickened any consumers in Oregon.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most people breathe in Aspergillus spores every day without getting sick. People with weakened immune systems or lung diseases are at a higher risk of developing health problems due to Aspergillus. It cannot be spread between people or between people and animals.
