Self Care with CBD: The Honeyshot Antioxidant Glow Facial

The Honeyshot Antioxidant Glow — ready to apply!

Happy fall, Sespe Community!

The transition into a chillier season is a great time to think about self care.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to another of our incredible vendors: Kikoko — a woman-owned California cannabis business that creates cannabis-infused honey and teas.

Kikoko shared a recipe for an at-home facial using one of their CBD-infused honey products, so, as your resident cannabis and skincare enthusiast I had to give it a try!

Here’s Kikoko’s recipe and instructions for their Honeyshot Antioxidant Glow facial:

Manuka honey has powerful antibacterial and antioxidant benefits. The brightening power of lemon juice and the calming effects of fresh lavender reveal smooth, glowing skin.

INGREDIENTS

Freshly squeezed juice from a lemon (Sespe tip: use no more than a tablespoon of lemon juice)

1 tbsp lavender (Sespe tip: optional ingredient)

1 Kikoko HoneyShot CALM

DIRECTIONS

Combine lemon juice, honey and lavender in a small bowl.

Apply mixture to clean skin. Let sit for 20 minutes.

Use warm water to remove mask and follow with your favorite skin moisturizer.

Repeat weekly.

So does it work? With a few modifications, yes! First, I recommend using no more than a tablespoon of lemon juice to ensure your mask doesn’t get too watery — my juicy Ojai lemon made the recipe a bit more liquid than I would have liked. Second, definitely taste the honey before you mix your mask — it’s delicious! And third, I suggest skipping the lavender. It smells wonderful, but you’ll end up with purple flecks all over your face.

I’m definitely going to try additional Kikoko products in my skincare routine, I think one of the Kikoko HoneyShot CALM products mixed with a teaspoon of sugar would make a wonderful scrub. Honey contains potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties  — making it fantastic for combating facial redness. Sugar is a natural source of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) — which helps clean out pores and encourage skin cell turnover.

The Honeyshot Antioxidant Glow facial is far from Kikoko’s only skincare recipe — I definitely want to try the Honeyshot Bee-Dazzle Turmeric Face Mask next!

And here’s some exciting news for Sespe customers interested in checking out Kikoko’s products: you can now try the new Kikoko Honeyshot Snooze (contains 1mg melatonin, 2mg CBN — the cannabinoid that makes you sleep — and 2mg of THC), or the Kikoko Honeyshot Focus (contains 6mg of CBD and 2mg of THC)! Check them out along with our regular assortment of Kikoko’s cannabis-infused teas and honey sticks!

PS: Now that I think about it, I’m going to have to try one of Kikoko’s teas paired with their delicious honey — I’ll report back!
