Soma Rosa

In 1875, Luther Burbank arrived in Sonoma County, recognizing it as “the chosen spot of all this earth as far as nature is concerned.” Here, he established his experimental garden, cultivating new plant varieties that would revolutionize agriculture. The region’s natural beauty and potential inspired his work, laying the groundwork for innovative practices in plant development.
Fast forward to 101 years later, when the first known seeds from Kabul, Afghanistan landed in Cazadero. The breeding of these short flowering, potent Afghani seeds with imported equatorial narrow leaf varieties resulted in hybrid creations that would forever change the landscape of the cannabis world. This significant development marked a new era in cannabis cultivation and set the stage for further advancements in the field.
Soma Rosa proudly carries on the Sonoma County tradition, cultivating plants in the native gold ridge soil that is nurtured by the ideal mix of cool coastal and warm inland air. By breeding and selecting new cultivars that thrive in their specific terroir, Soma Rosa demonstrates a steadfast commitment to producing the best tasting and smoking cannabis in the world. Embracing the natural environment and its potential, Soma Rosa continues to honor the legacy of Luther Burbank, who once expressed, “What a joy life is when you have made a close working partnership with Nature, helping her to produce for the benefit of mankind new forms, colors, and perfumes in flowers which were never known before…”
