Cosmic View

Cosmic View, treasured for its connection to the origins of the universe, is deeply rooted in a family’s cosmic fascination. One of the family’s most prized possessions is a hand-transcribed passage by Carl Sagan, penned by the founder’s reclusive artist grandfather. This passage serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all living things and the small, yet significant, role each plays on planet earth. The founders’ mother, influenced by her father’s celestial interests, pursued a career as a research scientist, while the founder themselves took a creative path. Both paths, though different, were guided by a shared curiosity about the world and the intertwining dance of science and art, reason, and intuition.
In 2017, Cosmic View was launched as a marriage of traditional herbalism, science, and brand-forward storytelling. The company reflects a shared obsession with pure earth products that recognize humanity’s role as caretakers of the planet and the cosmic order of nature. This alignment with scientific inquiry and spiritual insight embodies the words of Carl Sagan, who said, “Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality.”
Christine Skibola, PhD, is a key figure behind Cosmic View. A former UC Berkeley professor and leading international cancer researcher, she shifted her focus from academia to pursue her passion for helping individuals with cancer and chronic illnesses through holistic approaches. Utilizing her scientific background, Christine produces Cosmic View’s topical and supplemental cannabis formulations designed to aid those with health conditions. Her impressive career includes positions at the University of Alabama and UC Berkeley, authoring over 100 peer-reviewed science journal articles, and working with prestigious institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, and the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Skibola’s interest in diet, lifestyle, mind-body practices, and the potential role of cannabis in treating cancer symptoms manifests her dedication to empowering patients regarding their health.
Nicole Skibola, a cancer survivor and creative living in West Marin, California, adds a unique perspective to Cosmic View. Her passion for holistic health deepened after surviving rare endometrial cancer at a young age, leading to an interest in cannabis products, particularly CBD extractions. Nicole’s contributions to Cosmic View include a blend of business savvy, a love for aesthetic packaging, and an appreciation for the storytelling inherent in life’s unexpected turns. She is also the author of “Wakeful Night,” an illustrated exploration of cancer-related loss, featuring her own abstract linocut prints and India ink paintings. Nicole has worked with various organizations, such as the USC Norris Cancer Center and the Brooklyn Cottage, and contributes to “A Women’s Thing,” a New York-based magazine where she writes about entrepreneurship, feminism, and finding one’s path.
