Bohemian Chemist

In today’s stress-filled world, there’s a growing desire for moments of relaxation and tranquility. This led to the creation of The Bohemian Chemist, an herbal apothecary and spa inspired by the elegant and storied apothecaries of the past. Focusing on locally sourced and sun-grown cannabis from Anderson Valley, they aim to provide high-quality products that suit a range of needs.
Situated at The Madrones in the heart of Mendocino County’s wine country, The Bohemian Chemist’s Art Deco-themed apothecary offers a premium cannabis collection that can help with various ailments, such as sleep disorders, chronic pain, or even just mood enhancement. The setting is designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia and sophistication, and their collection is accessible for those interested in exploring its benefits.
The driving forces behind The Bohemian Chemist are Jim Roberts and Brian Adkinson, partners in both business and life. Their venture began with the inheritance of Jim’s 90-year-old mother Rosemary’s cannabis garden, previously used to produce a homemade arthritis balm. Seeing an opportunity to contribute something unique to the California cannabis market, they embarked on a journey to redefine the industry’s image.
Inspired by the free-spirited 1920s, Jim and Brian developed a cannabis brand that mirrors the elegance and creativity of that era. Embracing a motto that could be described as “Let loose, but keep it classy,” they crafted their herbal apothecary using cabinetry imported from a vintage Eastern European apothecary, adorned with Man Ray photographs and antique glass pharmacy bottles.
Acknowledging the deep roots of cannabis culture in Anderson Valley, the duo sought to honor this history by featuring products from legacy farmers and supporting policies that favor small, long-time farmers over large, recently-established companies. Committed to environmental stewardship, they ensure that all their cannabis is sungrown, significantly reducing the carbon footprint compared to indoor farming methods.
Using various cultivars, Jim and Brian have crafted their own in-house line of cannabis flower, pre-rolls, and concentrates. Grown under the Californian sun without pesticides, their products are a testament to their commitment to quality, innovation, and respect for both heritage and the environment.
